Do you ever just get a little discouraged by the news?

I was a journalism student in college.  Free press is very important to me.  Yet, sometimes, the reports can be a little overwhelming and depressing, can't they?

I believe we should know the truth and understand the times, INCLUDING the good stuff!  So, for a while, at least, I want to focus in on Fridays and bring you some GOOD news.

Sound like a plan?

This week, I had intended to show you one story, but I am rerouting to show you another, because it is happening RIGHT NOW!

Have you all heard of Operation Christmas Child?  A ministry organization called Samaritan's Purse (which we love!) hosts this huge event where people pack shoeboxes with little gifts and then send them to needy children around the world.  Last year, we teamed up with my mom to bless some girls in the Philippines.


There are instructions online, but basically, boxes are packed with toothpaste, toothbrushes, t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, flip-flops, toys, hard candy, stuffed animals. . . things that are age appropriate.  Then, they are mailed to OCC headquarters with a $7 check to cover shipping and handling (because some of them are going to have to travel really far!). Last year, we got to track our box online to see where it went!  Cool, huh?

One of our friends turns sixty this week, and for her birthday, she is inviting friends to come for dinner and pack SIXTY shoeboxes.  Sixty children blessed this Christmas?  How awesome is that!

    Would you recommend starting with a free platform like Wordpress
    or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm totally confused ..

One of my children and I were having a cabin fever kind of day recently, missing the freedom to have big adventures and attend big events. You know what I mean? We had been sheltered-in-place about seven weeks and were missing those moments when someone says, "So, what'd you do this weekend?" . . . and you have something big to say.
